Thursday 1st June 2017 - Texas (Marginal Risk)

Today was day 1 of Tour 3 and we left Dallas around 9am for the drive west and a target of Big Spring. After lunching in Abilene an MD was issued for our general area but a watch issuance was not expected. The early storms as expected were non severe and kept feeding off each others outflow to sustain themselves. At about 6pm one of the storms started to gain marginally severe levels and warranted a severe thunderstorm warning on GRLevel3 for 2" Hail. We Headed back east and put us in the path of this storm hoping to let the new guests experience at least golfball hail but the age old adage appeared again and if you look for the hail it just will not happen! Structure below of the cell west of AbileneWe then headed North towards Anson to the point where 2 storms were performing a cell merger and we got a brief supercell structure which was a massive bonus on a marginal risk day. Ended the day in Abilene.
